Cafe Kantary Bakery, Nimmanhemin, Chiang Mai: Review

Sip fancy drinks and eat posh cakes at Kantary Bakery, Chiang Mai.

This is a cake shop to visit to really treat yourself to something special. The food and drinks are super-tasty, the atmosphere is lovely and the staff are friendly.

It is pricey, but it's also amazing. For the richest cheesecake and chocolatiest brownies in Nimmanhemin, come here. You can buy savoury things too, like quiche, sandwiches and sausage rolls. The drinks are top quality (who knew tea could taste so good), and some have extra ingredients like amaretto, cream or crumbled up biscuits sprinkled on top.

If you go to Kantary Bakery you really should try the Ooh La La Honey Toast. It's a huge slab of homemade bread, oozing honey and topped with ice cream, cream, almonds and bananas. People go crazy for it and I can see why - it's delicious. If I ever compete on Come Dine With Me I will absolutely win if I serve this. Tip: Don't attempt to eat Ooh La La Honey Toast by yourself.

I noticed recently that they sell French macarons of all colours. I've never had one... should I try one?

Personally, I'm addicted to Kantary's Green Tea Cream Frappe.

Usually, green tea is sort of OK. This green tea is incredible. I have no idea how they make it taste so good (I suspect the cream has something to do with it), but I hope they never stop. Not only is it super tasty, it's beautiful, too! It has green sprinkles! Amazing. Let me know what you think if you try it.

Andy usually goes for the signature Kantary Coffee, hot or frappe style. It has amaretto in it, with cream and biscuits on top. I think it tastes like a boozy Christmas.

They have one or two sofas to sink in, a row of bar chairs and some low tables and armchairs. Outside seating is nice on wooden decking, but if there's a chance of rain they don't seem to put the cushions out. Outside there are small pools that, sadly, are for decoration only.

It feels like a date whenever we go there, I love it! Whilst it is definitely great for dates, I also took my mum there for Mother's Day and we often see groups of teenagers, families and friends.
